6/7/10
Today we travelled to Cha-Am, a coastal town where the conference is taking place. The area is beautiful and perfect for what the missionary families need in terms of rest and renewal. I got to meet and learn about the missionaries living in Thailand how they serve in various capacities. A couple of missionaries help young women escape from sex trafficking and find them meaningful work that is safe and edifying. Others work with children with disabilities. Others serve in areas of economic development, participation in and leadership of social services, and health care services. Some missionaries live in the north near Myanmar working with specific tribal groups, others live in the south ministering to Muslims. The missionaries from Sweden, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the USA care for the whole person—the physical, emotional, and spiritual. It is awesome seeing Christians from all over the world engaged in many different ministries come together to worship and fellowship with one another.
Tomorrow we get to hang out with the youth. I have already met some, but not many. This will be a time of conversation and fellowship in the Spirit. I pray that the youth will be able to be completely themselves, and hope to minister to them in meaningful ways. I also hope they enjoy their experience and find it refreshing and renewing.
