June 4 and 5

I have had to handwrite this blog as my laptop has minimal battery life and we are moving from airport to airport.

I am traveling to Thailand with Central Seminary to be a part of the Thailand Baptist Missionary Fellowship’s annual conference. While Dr. Marshall is leading a the adult portion, Dave Stanley, a Create student, and I will be leading the youth portion.

Thailand is one of the few (maybe only) countries in Asia to never be occupied by a foreign land. They are proud of their heritage and rich culture.

We’ll be focusing on how the Holy Spirit works in Scripture and in our lives. I’m excited about getting to know the youth. Our prayer is that we can provide them with a relaxing atmosphere that will open them (and us, too) to God’s presence in our lives. We plan on having plenty of fun, too. We are decorating t-shirts and seeing how many times a youth can correctly use the term “Perichoresis.” (I admit, this is on behalf of Dr. Marshall). I look forward to this time of mutual learning.

During the course of this trip, we are examining on how the Triune God is working in Thailand, the history of Baptist missions and collaboration in Thailand, and how Thai Christians as a minority live and relate to their culture and their state. I have much to learn!
